Working with Images

Inserting images

Inserting images manually in the product editor using the traditional image browser gives you maximum control over your image selection.

Use the directory browser in the object browser to access the directory containing your images.

Select the thumbnail for the required photo in the object browser, hold down the left mouse button, and drag the image into the product editor.

The pop-up menu (right click the thumbnail in the directory browser) offers various sorting options, such as alphabetical by name and chronological by creation date.
If you select "Sort by colour", the images in the current directory are shown grouped by colour mood in a separate program window. Double clicking the image inserts it into the product window.

The thumbnails of images you have already used in the product are checked in the object browser. You can drag an image into the product editor several times, e.g. if you want to print a different size, or edit the same image using different functions in the photo viewer.

Additionally, a selection of Assistants is available. For more details on the Assistants refer to the individual chapters.

Note:

If your want to use the available layouts, we recommend setting the editor options ("Program Options" section) so that the photo adapts to the layout frame.
This is the setting "Maintain frame size and crop the edges of the image".
If you adapt the layout frame to the photo, the spacing and aspect ratio of the frame is no longer correct.
You can define the best section of the image afterwards by moving and zooming the images inside the layout frame.

The opposite applies as follows:
If you want to insert your photos in their original aspect ratio, you can set the editor options ("Program Options" section) so that the layout frame adapts to your photo.
This is the setting "Change layout frames so that images fill the frames".

Photos at edge:
To prevent so-called white gaps, photos should not be too close to the edge (the limit is 2 to 5 mm to the edge) or protrude over the edge. Otherwise there is an unattractive gap between the image and the edge of the page in production. In the "Options" ("Program Options" section) under "Editor" you will find the functions "Automatically position photos if they are too near the edge".
The options:
"Always ask" (a dialog box then opens if a photo is too close to the edge of the page),
"Yes, reposition images too close to the edge" (then the photo snaps on at the edge and then overlaps sufficiently)
and "No, do not adjust them".

Editing images

The software naturally gives you the option of editing images.
These functions are described in the chapter "Photo Show".

Removing images from the product editor

To remove an image from the product editor, first select the image (click on it) and then press the "Delete" button in the toolbar. You can also press the "Del" key on your keyboard.
If you have used an image mask on the photo, the image mask is deleted the first time you click "Delete", the second time the photo and the third time the layout frame.

Selected images are identifiable by the highlighting frame drawn round the image.
To select multiple consecutive images at the same time, use the mouse to draw a frame around the images you want to select, or select the first image you want to remove, hold down the shift key on your keyboard, and click the last image you want to select.

To select (or deselect) multiple non-consecutive images hold down the "Ctrl" key and click with the mouse.
